Price Rules

Price Rules is probably one of the most advanced features in BlooKing. It allows you to define and combine any type of pricing rules, from  simple seasonal rates to complex offers, coupons and extra charges. You might need some practise before you get the price rules right but as soon as you get familiar with it you will be able to set any price scheme you wish. The X factor serves as a wildcard variable in price rules and can be used for setting rules relational to the number of guests or the staying period.

The price rule name is translatable so provide your translations by selecting the language from the drop down list and enter a rule name for various languages. Press apply and continue with the next language. Rules can be applied to one or more room categories. If you wish to select more than one category hold the Ctrl key and select the categories from the list.

There are three rule modes in BlooKing.

  1. Rates per Period or per Day: Use this mode for defining rates different from the default rates defined in room category settings. Use this rule mode when defining seasonal rates, weekly or daily rates.

Example 1 - Seasonal Rate: Assuming you wish to define a new rate (100) for one of your categories only for March 2012.  The image below shows how you can do this.

Example 2 - Weekly Rate: If you wish to apply a weekly rate (500) you can do it like this:

Please note the use of the X factor for defining the length of the period for the new rate. If you would like to have a monthly rate instead of weekly rate you can change 7 to 30 and so on.

You can restrict the staying period and (or) the booking start/end days from the Room Category settings.

Example 3 - Daily (Weekend) rates: If your rates are changing between days you can use the per day rate type for defining a new price for the selected days. In this example the rate for weekends is set to 200.

  1. Special Offer: Use this mode for creating special offers and discounts for your guests. The offer can be a fixed amount or a percentage of the total booking fee. It can be either applied on the room rate or the guests rate. Usually if the category on which you plan to apply the offer is charger per room (guest) then the offer will be charged per room (guest) as well. You can apply the offer either on the total booking fee or on the daily rate. Finally you can create coupons for your offer and give promotional codes to be entered in the second step of the booking process.

Example 1 - After X Days offer. This examples shows how you can create an offer that gives a 20% discount on the total amount if the guest stays for more than 5 days. The use of the X factor here is related to the staying period.

Example 2 - Coupons: This example shows how to create 5 coupons with a promotional code for your quests. The coupon will be applicable if more than 5 adults have been selected and will give 100 discount on the adult cost for each one of the selected adults.

  1. Extra Charge: The Extra Charge mode is very similar to the Special Offers with the only difference that the total amount will be higher instead of lower than the regular one. A typical example of an extra charge is “Double Occupancy” rates!

Example 1 - Double Occupancy

In this example we define double occupancy as follows: if a room costs 100 per night, based on double occupancy, means the room is 100 per night whether one or two people stay there. Three people staying there would cost 20 more per guest per night. The above statement in BlooKing can be achieved with the rule shown in the image.
